Hi! You’re thinking about volunteering for Urban Nomad? Thanks so much! Seriously, we really appreciate it. We know your time is valuable, and we hope we can give you a rewarding experience.
As one of Taiwan’s only self-funding film festivals, volunteers are very important to us and help with virtually every area of the festival. Since 2016, we’ve thought about how to improve volunteer participation and programs. If you are open minded and eager, we will do our best to give you the chance to learn by doing as part of the festival team — especially for those who want to become interns. Several Urban Nomad volunteers have gone on to become regular staff at Urban Nomad, as well as at other film festivals and professional cultural jobs in Taiwan and abroad. If you’re interested to join us, here is more info on how volunteers can participate in the festival.
** PLEASE NOTE that most volunteer positions require Chinese language ability and in the past most festival volunteers have been Taiwanese. If you have areas of expertise, unique skills, or just really want to volunteer, please let us know about your interests, talents and how you think you can help or contribute. There’s some space to explain that on the volunteer registration form below. Thanks!
ABOUT OUR VOLUNTEER GROUPS
Event Staff: Whatever group you’re in, we ask most volunteers to work shifts as event staff. Event staff help with film screenings, music performances, panel discussions and other Urban Nomad events.
Reporters: Write short reports on festival events and reviews of films, panels or performances.
Photo / Video: Shoot photos, video or help live stream Urban Nomad events.
Translation: Work on film subtitles or assist international guests to the festival. Translators generally translate one film and proofread an additional film.
