This documentary embeds itself with a new breed of anarchists who use digital technologies to further their anti-authoritarian aims. They include Cody Wilson, who is infamous for creating and distributing a model for a 3D-printed gun, and Amir Taaki, a Bitcoin advocate who seeks to make online spending even more untraceable in the clandestine Darkwallet marketplace. They have become media pariahs, but here we hear them at length, finding them that beyond the sound-bytes they are highly reasoned intellectuals fighting for ideals in a new territory that exists beyond conventional politics. Even if their methods are not agreeable, they fight a tightening digital net of control on individual freedoms, and that should be of concern to all. Director Adam Bhala Lough comes to this new subject matter as an award-winning documentarian who has screened three films at Sundance and best known for the hit music doc, Lil’ Wayne: The Carter.
