Okay so... FUNK IT. Let's party.
This time around, URBAN NOMAD FALL FREAKOUT will pack everything into a massive one-day party, with 25+ bands and DJs, as well as artists and performers going from 2pm to 5am at Taipei’s chillest and wildest outdoor music venue, Tiger Mountain. We will have 3 music stages, as well as roving artists, fire dancers, a hair salon, gourmet food, vegan options, craft beer, all sorts of vendors, and to top it all off, this happens in a beautiful mountain valley very close to the center of Taipei city.
The MAIN STAGE will bring big energy and big talents, including Taiwan’s best ska band Skaraoke, top indie artist Paige Su, 13-piece Afro-beat band Island Futurism, and other great acts playing funk, soul, Afro-funk and tunes with infectious dance energy.
The TEMPLE STAGE will start out with urban folk, punk, shoegaze, psychedelic and freak-rock. Then after midnight, it’s the TEMPLE OF HIP HOP, kicked off by live jams from the Pass the Vibe crew, then handing it down to DJ Marcus Aurelius and his merry band of hip-hop lovers, dance crews, and twerk superstars, who will be jamming to everything from ‘80s boom-bap to the latest dancefloor fire.
The JUNGLE STAGE will host the VINYL LOUNGE around sunset, up the tempo with REGGAE and AFROBEATS, then morph into an ALL-NITE TECHNO party that’s gonna pump it up till the sun comes out.
So yeah, about this year…. We were honestly gutted in the spring, when it became impossible to do a full international music festival this year. But once Taiwan turned out to be the best in the world at handling the pandemic, local bands told us they wanted to play. So despite the setbacks of cancelling Urban Nomad’s April event with 40+ total confirmed acts including 15 god-almighty amazing international performers, we didn’t want to give up, so we decided to go for it in October, and to bring back the Motherfunking Freakout, and throw one massive party that will go all day and all night with all our favorite local acts.
And we are just plain happy as heck to once again gather with our amazing family of bands, DJs, artists, music lovers, party people and our wonderful, freaky community. In times like these, running a music festival is not easy. To you who continue to support and encourage, we say thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
