2017 Urban Nomad To Open With 2-day Music Fest On April 15-16

For 2017, Urban Nomad will open with a two-day music festival — the Urban Nomad Opening Freakout — on April 15 and 16 (Sat & Sun). It’ll be held at Taipei’s best outdoor music venue, Tiger Mountain, a lush green mountain valley completely immersed in nature but only a 10-minute taxi ride from Taipei 101.
The lineup of 30 bands and DJs is the result of 15 years of mining talent from Fuji Rock and the Tokyo underground, as well as befriending Taiwan’s best and freakiest musical acts. There will be first ever Taiwan gigs by four Japanese groups: the four-girl S&M garage rock band, Kinoco Hotel; Japan indie scene mainstays and electro-rockers L.E.D.; Tokyo’s old-school reggae and Latin DJ crew Caribbean Dandy; and the jazz-trance band Omni Sight. Taiwan-based bands and DJs include Skaraoke, White Eyes, Sonia Calico, Marcus Aurelius, Balkazar and DJ Vicar. And that’s just the first line-up announcement. There’s much more to come! There will also be great food, beer, booths, artists and performers, and all ages are welcome!
Programming, generally speaking, will be rock & electronic on Saturday; jazz, reggae and world music on Sunday. The fest will also see visits by international promoters coming to check out the Taiwan scene, including Shogo Komiyama of Japonicus, who regularly works with Fuji Rock and has organized Japan shows for Manu Chao, Laurel Aitken, Rico Rodriguez, Fermin Muguruza, The Beat, Very Be Careful and the world’s best acts in reggae, ska and Latin rock.
Outside of the music festival, Urban Nomad will work with local clubs and live houses for more gigs, so your ticket will also get you free or reduced admission to afterparties, warm-up parties and more. Stay tuned! We’ve got a lot coming for 2017!
